Fresh Photography

I have always been drawn to music.  I go many different ways.  There ae situations that call for melodramatic soul searching ... in which I turn to my girl ... Sarah McLachlin .. and times when all sense of music goes out the window and I just want to crank it up, roll down my windows and ... bounce ... and I turn to Buck Cherry ...  I am usally drawn to really great male stanby's .... Jack Johnson is my all time fave ... I could listen to him for hours ... but lately - I am drawn to soulful sisters ... and I'm not talking about TLC ... I mean - the new, slightly more mild version of Sheryl Crow and Amanda Marshall ... Vanessa Carlton, Marie Digby, Colbie Caillat, Sarah Harmer, Trystan Prettyman, Ingrid Michaelson .. and one of new faves ... MIssy Higgins.

Why this rant about music ?  Cuz I love it when people know who they are.  so much so - they pour all of their being into their music.  And you can learn alot about them.  heartache. joy. sufferage. celebration. reflection. discovery. Sometimes, when I am in the right mood (which is almost always ...) these kinds of songs bring tears to my eyes ... the words seep into my soul ... the music overtakes me psyche ... and I can't help but be emotional over music.

Now - I am no musician ... in fact ... I think Mrs. Byrne would cringe at the fact that I once tried to sing Karaoke (tiny Dancer ... it was a tiny disaster!) and thought I was okay at it .... I am not okay.  I am wretched. Even my Dogs put their paws over my face when I start to sing.  Seriously.  when the weiners know your bad.  Your Really Bad. So I REALLY admire those who can sing.  Those who are fortunate enough to be able to pour themselves into their voice ... and put into perfect notes - their entirety.  I have respect. 

I didn't know Brooklyn that well - before this day in May (oooo --- a Blue Rodeo reference!!) when I showed up at her house ... to take her out on a photographic journey through snow and antique stores.  since then - I have discovered (like I am the only one that knew she had talent .... :) ) that Brooklyn is simply amazing.  She knows what she wants.  She is chasing a dream.  and she tries to change the world.  One tune, one riff, one note at a time.  She is a triple Threat.  She is good at acting.  Good at singing.  and Good at life.  She channels an inner Audrey Hepburn - mixed with a little Lennon ... and maybe a tiny bit of Lucille Ball ... she is hilarious. passionate. contemplative. witty. beautiful.  oh so beautiful.
